In Mousesteps Weekly #208, we talk about Holidays Around the World at Epcot, along with Disney's Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin tree lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus meet and greet.
Our day at Epcot starts with topiaries up front, as well as in the breezeway on the way to World Showcase. The giant Christmas tree is up, and food booths feature a variety of different items (not samples, but full portions).
We meet Launchpad McQuack in the World Showplace location, and take a walk around World Showcase. France is our first stop for a storyteller after checking out the decorations, with Pere Noel telling the story of Babette as he does every year. We stop for the Moroccan storyteller, and then our favorite - Sigrid and Julenissen in Norway. The Lion Dancers are back in China, and Helga in Germany. Santa and Mrs. Claus greet guests in the America pavilion. In the rotunda of the American Adventure, the Voices of Liberty sing and there is a large gingerbread U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial.
The Odyssey features a Craft Beer location, which isn't decorated for the holidays but guests can purchase beer.
Joyful! and American Music Machine provide a solid day of great music, playing alternating sets at the fountain stage in Future World.
Lunch was at Via Napoli, which is one of our favorite table service locations at Walt Disney World. The pizza here is always fantastic.
We walk out the International Gateway to Disney's Beach Club Resort, where the Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel is more unique than we've ever seen it! The horses are all Disney character themed. This is the 17th year for the carousel.
Next, we head over to the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort for the tree lighting and meet and greet with vacationing Santa and Mrs. Claus. This is a tradition for us!
We go back to Epcot, where we see Steven Curtis Chapman narrating the Candlelight Processional. And we cap our evening off with holiday Illuminations.
